Parkinson Disease Foundation (PDF) Parkinson Associates in Research (PAIR)

PDF's mission is “committed to finding a cure for Parkinson’s, while ensuring that those who live with the disease are able to enjoy the best possible quality of life.” Kirk and Linda very much admire this organization as well as the work they do and are proud to be associated with them.

The Halls attended PDF PAIR training during the summer of 2012 and are committed to helping build awareness regarding the need for patient participation in clinical research studies. They do this by speaking to support groups, writing blog articles, doing media interviews, and personally participating in research studies.

Kirk has written a blog article on this subject.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

Kirk has written a blog article about his DBS.

The Medtronic website is also a great resource for Parkinson’s patients who would like to learn more about DBS (http://www.medtronic.com/patients/parkinsons-disease/therapy/).

Speaking engagements, media interviews, and webinars

Kirk and Linda have had the opportunity to speak to PD support groups and audiences in Colorado and Phoenix. They have participated in interviews for newspapers, television, radio, and websites that enabled them to share information about Parkinson’s with the Parkinson’s community as well as the general public. They were also involved in a Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) webinar that was designed to help build understanding and awareness regarding how this disease impacts those with Parkinson’s. There are multiple articles posted on Kirk’s blog that address these subjects. They are listed on the blog page of this website under the category: SPG speaking engagements, media interviews, and webinars.
